Pinwheel

Orange and white kitten with cloudy eyes on a counter in a yellow kitchen

Pinwheel was surrendered to our rescue along with his four siblings, who were all born on a farm. Unfortunately, the people who had them originally administered cattle antibiotics and did not get them the treatment they so desperately needed, which resulted in multiple severe, chronic illnesses. We treated the kittens for the conditions, but their eyes were mostly beyond repair. They can most likely see shapes and lights, but the excessive scarring prevents them from being able to see fully. Once Pinwheel got better, he contracted panleukopenia, which is a horrific illness with a low survival rate in kittens. With intensive supportive care, a couple of hospital stays, and nonstop cleaning and disinfecting the environment, Pinwheel survived and was later adopted with his brother, Frisbee.
